Call holiday event exactly what it is

In her Wednesday column, "It's an egg hunt, without the Easter part," Ms Muhlstein quoted Tammy Rankins, recreational coordinator for Edmonds Parks, as saying "someone" objected to the city's involvement in an egg hunt and by inference, specifically to an Easter egg hunt. As a local "someone," myself, (I'm not a religious person) I strongly object to the elimination of event designations such as Easter and Christmas in public events.
Let's have Tammy Rankins get back to scheduling events in the Edmonds parks, and please let her know that while my wife and I regularly walk on the Edmonds pier, eat at the local restaurants, and shop at Edmonds shops these "recreational" activities on our part will cease immediately and until "someone" in city management has the fortitude to stand up and stop this nonsense we will take our business to communities less dedicated to this kind of secular stupidity and, in addition, will campaign to encourage our friends and neighbors to do likewise.
