Prep baseball: Snohomish 9, Lake Stevens 4

SNOHOMISH -- Russell Crippen batted 3-for-5 with two RBI and three stolen bases and Andrew Ivelia added two hits and two RBI to pace Snohomish to a 9-4 victory over Lake Stevens in a Wesco 4A North game.
Crippen led an offense that despite scoring nine runs, produced just one extra base hit on the afternoon: a double by Ivelia in the bottom of the sixth. But, according to to Panthers head coach Kim Hammons, his team took advantage of their scoring chances throughout the game.
"I think that we were just opportunistic in manufacturing runs and walks and singles throughout our lineup," Hammons said. "We didn't have any big producers really."
Hammons acknowleged that Crippen's play in Friday's game -- and all season so far -- has been key in Snohomish's success.
"Russell is just an exciting player to watch this year," said Hammons. "He's been hitting the ball hard and in play in every game. He's been a real catalyst this year."
