Details, details: The scheduled departure of the Everett-based carrier USS Nimitz on a six- to 10-month deployment was postponed Friday. The Nimitz is now expected to leave port this morning. The delay was attributed to the need to complete required preparations for deployment, a Navy spokeswoman said.

The Navy wasn't more specific, but we're guessing someone forgot to put vacation holds on the mail and newspaper and arrange for the neighbor kid to come by and feed the cat.

Did I say that out loud? Alaska Rep. Don Young, R-Bridge to Nowhere, has come under fire for using the term "wetback" to describe migrant workers in a radio interview. Young later apologized and said he "meant no disrespect" in using the term.

Young further explained that it was a term that was "tossed around" a lot when he was a young boy. You know, kind of like how "racist idiot" is tossed around now.

Running on empty: The Obama administration plans to tighten emission standards for gasoline, but the proposal already has caused disagreement. The Environmental Protection Agency says the changes will cost about a penny a gallon, while the oil industry says its own study puts the cost at 6 to 9 cents a gallon.

But that's a penny for the actual cost to reformulate the fuel and 5 to 8 cents for the standard oil industry markup.
