KENNEWICK — A Kennewick man accused of possessing child pornography is asking a judge to throw out evidence because he and his wife were not told they could refuse to let detectives search their home without a warrant.
Dan Richard Dickey allowed detectives to take his home computer last November after one saw a file titled “Nudist family fun.”
The Tri-City Herald reported that Dickey testified at a hearing last week on possible evidence for the trial. His lawyer says anything suspicious found on the computer should be suppressed.
At the time of the search, Dickey was president of the Kennewick Police Department Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funds to support police. Because of his police connection, the case was investigated by sheriff’s deputies.
