Investigators allege the man, 21, of Everett, victimized multiple people when taking their smartphones and tablet computers in transactions that started on Craigslist, an online classifieds website. The complaints started in December, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
Several local police agencies connected 12 cases to the man, Snell said. Secret Service agents also joined the investigation.
The man was arrested March 24 in Lynnwood. Additional counterfeit money and money-making equipment was seized at his home. None of the electronics have been recovered.
Anyone who may have been a victim in the case is asked to call 425-257-8450. The suspect is described as Asian and about 5-foot-8, 130 pounds. He was booked into jail.
Police also remind people to be careful when meeting strangers to buy and sell goods.
