I have lived in the Monroe area most of my life and have seen Valley General Hospital develop from the original small hospital it was into the modern facility it is now. We need to keep all their doors open.
Past: Forty some odd years ago I was a patient at Valley General Hospital and had it not been for the diligent care I received from the nursing staff and others my outcome could have been much different. I received excellent care from them.
Present: A couple years ago my brother had a horrible infection in his leg and had it not been for the modern facility and the forethought of the hospital to have a new piece of equipment he most likely would have lost his leg. The hyperbaric chamber and the doctors at Valley General saved it. At the time Valley General was the only hospital in the area to have one.
Future: I would hate to think that as I get older and may be in need of emergency care that myself or any of my family, friends, or anyone would have to travel miles to get the help they need. This is an awful thought. It could make the difference of quality of life or possibly none at all.
I urge you and yours to vote for the hospital levy.
