Benefit bike ride planned in Snohomish

Don’t worry. You can still take your husbands or guy friends on this women’s bicycling event.

The Women’s Living the Dream Ride debuts on May 11, the day before Mother’s Day, and cyclists can choose one of four routes that range in length and ability through scenic Snohomish.

The ride goes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline to register is Wednesday.

The ride is being organized by the Living the Dream Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Dream Dinners, Inc., to support women, children and family causes in the community and nationwide.

“We wanted to create an event that was fresh and celebrates women on the weekend of Mother’s Day without conflicting with that special day,” said Tina Kuna, event director and co-founder of Dream Dinners and the Living the Dream Foundation.

“This new cycling event is intended to promote fun, fitness and friendship among women and their families, including husbands and guy friends and children.”

The Women’s Living the Dream Ride event actually kicks off the night before with a Sunset Wine, Sip, Shop party from 4 to 7:30 p.m. May 10 in the in Snohomish. Tickets are $10 and the public is welcome to this party.

Then on May 11, cyclists take one of four routes ranging from 18 to 24, 36 or 62 miles in length. Event registration is $150 at www.livingthedreamride.org.

A portion of the ride event’s proceeds will benefit the Snohomish Community Kitchen where Dream Dinners staff and the foundation have donated food and volunteer support for several years.
