Monday is the deadline to register to vote and still cast a ballot in the April 23 special election. But people must register in person at the Snohomish County auditor’s office in Everett.
The auditor’s office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
The only south Snohomish County item on the April 23 ballot is the bond measure for a Mountlake Terrace civic center.
The deadline for currently registered Washington voters to file a change of address or for anyone to register on line or by mail was March 25.
County Auditor Carolyn Weikel said Monday that voters usually get a ballot in the mail rather than voting at the auditor’s office because elections officials need time for processing the application and verification of the information before someone becomes a registered voter. Elections Manager Garth Fell added that new voters can vote on the spot if they are willing to wait several minutes while county officials check information against the State data base.
