New music from local artists

A lot of great stuff is going on right now in the local music community. Everything from new music and new music videos to record releases and documentaries. Get your fix of local music news below:

A while back I wrote about how Courtney Marie Andrews stole the show at Bare 4. I also mentioned you would be hearing more about her in the future. Well, I got my hands on Courtney’s new record and it is completely gorgeous. When Courtney sings there is so much substance in her voice and songs. I can’t wait for her record release party on April 16 with Zach Fleury at the Triple Door. Tickets are here.

Legendary Seattle radio personality Marco Collins is the subject of a new documentary called The Glamour &The Squalor. It is a look at the Seattle music landscape in the ’90s through eyes of it’s most popular DJ. We will have a lot more info on this soon, and possibly an interview with Marco, but for now enjoy the first trailer below. The film already looks amazing!

Pickwick released this video for their song ‘Lady Luck’ off of their debut album “Can’t Talk Medicine.”

Fox and The Law recently released a video for their new song ‘Sleep With The Lights On’ off of their new EP of the same name.

I’m not typically big on cover bands but Seattle’s Rewind is a little different. These guys rock your favorite ’80s hits so hard that Mircosoft hired them to play their Halo 4 video game release party. Rewind will be at the Anchor Pub in downtown Everett this Saturday night. This show is for ages 21 and older and tickets are $10.

A couple weeks back I went to Neumos to see Jon Russell of The Head and The Heart play some solo songs. The bill also included Damien Jurado (my very favorite ever) and Tomo Nakayama of Grand Hallways. Jon and Damien played amazing sets as always and Damien broke my heart when he said his next record would be out sometime next year. Almost all the songs he played were new and they sound incredible. I have pretty much already decided his next record will be number one on my best of 2014 list.

The other thing I took away from this show is that Tomo Nakayama is completely incredible and everyone should know about Grand Hallways. I can’t wait to see the band live soon. Check this video for an idea what I’m talking about.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (maybe you’ve heard of them) made a new commercial for Nordstrom’s Wedding department featuring their song “And We Danced.” It’s a pretty fun commercial and I am very jealous of the suit Ryan Lewis is wearing.
