Published:
LYNNWOOD -- A Seattle man, 49, was arrested earlier this week in connection with a string of thefts in the Lynnwood area.
Police allege the man would go into department stores, find an unattended cash register and pry the machine open with a screwdriver. Lynnwood police shared information with investigators around the region, spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, the thief struck at the Alderwood Mall. An employee called 911.
The man ran and jumped into his truck but witnesses got the license plate number, Sessions said.
He was pulled over nearby and booked into jail for investigation for organized retail theft, a felony.
