EvCC sweeps doubleheader with Edmonds

EDMONDS -- The Everett Community College baseball team moved into first place in the NWAACC North Division with a pair of wins against Edmonds CC on Saturday. Everett won the opener 3-0 and took the second game 9-2.
Gunnar Swanson pitched a three-hit shutout for Everett (9-1, 21-5) in the eight-inning opener. Paul Wilen's home run highlighted a third inning in which Everett scored all of its runs.
Alex Koeplin pitched for Everett and first baseman Daniel Orr was 3-for-5 with 5 RBI in the nine-inning nightcap. Two of Orr's RBI came on a third-inning double and he hit a three-run home run in the sixth.
The series with Edmonds (7-3, 16-10) concludes at 1 p.m. today with a doubleheader at Everett Memorial Stadium.
