The accident was reported around 8:30 a.m. and the road was closed for about two hours while Snohomish County Sheriff's Office detectives conducted a collision investigation.
The driver, 86, was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Investigators do not have conclusive information about the cause of the accident, sheriff's office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
Cause and manner of death, as well as identity of the driver, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.
