Associated Press
SEATTLE -- The King County executive has ordered an inquest into a fatal February shooting by Seattle police.
Executive Dow Constantine's office said Monday that King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg recommended the inquest after his office reviewed a Seattle Police Department investigation into the death of Jack Sun Keewatinawin, 21.
The young man was killed Feb. 26 after police responded to calls about a man holding his father hostage with a knife. Police said the man brandished a piece of rebar and approached an officer who had slipped on wet ground. Three officers fired, hitting the young man several times.
Inquests are fact-finding hearings conducted before a six-member jury.
