The school's athletic director, Jorge de la Torre, announced the hiring Thursday morning.
"We are thrilled to have Katy aboard as our women's basketball coach," de la Torre said in a story on the school's website. "She will be a terrific leader for our student-athletes."
Wilson served this past season as an assistant coach for the Clackamas Community College men's basketball team. The Cougars posted a 17-14 record and advanced to quarterfinals of the NWAACC tournament.
"Although it is difficult to leave Oregon, I have the experience, the education and the desire to build my own successful program," Wilson, who teaches at Portland Community College, said on the Edmonds CC website. "I am very thankful to (Clackamas head coach) Clif Wagner for giving me the opportunity to be a part of his coaching staff. I am excited to start a new chapter in my life and achieving one of my life's goals, but it was hard for me to leave such a good community."
Wilson inherits an Edmonds team that was 7-18 this past season and placed seventh in the eight-team NWAACC North Division. She replaces Tarrance Tucker III, who coached the Tritons for two seasons.
