Nearly enough Mountlake Terrace voters had returned their ballots by Monday for the Tuesday special election to validate the election for a bond issue for a civic campus.
The measure needs votes from 40 percent of the number of ballots cast in the last general election and a 60 percent “yes” vote.
The Mountlake Terrace measure needs 3,644 total votes with 60 percent voting “yes.”
As of Monday afternoon, 3,319 Mountlake Terrace ballots had arrived at the Snohomish County auditor’s office in Everett, meaning that the measure needs 325 more votes to be valid.
Voters must mail their ballots so they have postmarks by Tuesday, leave their ballots at 24-hour drop boxes at the Lynnwood City Hall, McCollum Park, the County courthouse campus in Everett or three other sites around the County, or vote in person between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. at accessible voting units at the Lynnwood Library or the County auditor’s office.
The measure would authorize $25 million in bonds for a civic campus. An identical measure got a 57 percent “yes” vote in the August election.
