MUKILTEO — After a scoreless first half, Magnus Lagerkrans scored the first of his two goals in the 48th minute with an assist from Max Aceves and that proved enough. Jacob Parker got the shutout in goal and Kamiak went on to add two more goals to defeat Edmonds-Woodway 3-0 in a Wesco 4A South match.
The Knights and Warriors are competing for the league’s third and final district berth and began the day tied at 15 points apiece. The win puts Kamiak three points up with three games to play. Both teams must play league-leading Mariner, but Kamiak ends the season with a one-two punch, facing second-place Lynnwood in the penultimate match and ending the season against the Marauders.
“(We’re) continuting to work hard and solidify some things and take it one match at a time. Just keep our focus going into these next few matches,” said Kamiak head coach Garfield Scott.
Going into the locker room in a scoreless tie, the Knights were able to come out and “control the game a lot better. And the goals came after that,” according to Scott.
Seven minutes after Lagerkrans scored, Kevin Baron picked up the ball about 35 yards out, dribbled in by himself and slotted the ball into the corner to make it 2-0.
Lagerkrans struck again in the 69th minute with an assist by Colin Higman.
