Best prep performances for the week April 13-18

Glacier Peak | Softball
Glacier Peak's Callie Bircher pitched a no-hitter and two other complete-game, double-digit strikeout performances to pick up three wins last week. On Tuesday the Grizzlies hurler scattered eight hits and struck out 10 in a nine-inning 6-4 win over Marysville Pilchuck. A day later she tossed a perfect game in a win over Marysville Getchell and then struck out 12 batters in a 5-1 win over Oak Harbor on Thursday. In three days Bircher threw 22 innings, struck out 32 batters and gave up just five runs.

Mountlake Terrace's Quintin Barnard knocked in four runs on an RBI double and a three-run double in a 6-4 win over Meadowdale and also had a two-run home run in a 3-2 win over Meadowdale as the Hawks swept the Mavs to go 3-0 last week and move within a game of third place in the 3A South. Barnard also had a double in a 7-3 win over Meadowdale on Tuesday.
Other nominees: Archbishop Murphy's Zander Clouse earned a save in a win over Coupeville, threw a no-hitter on Wednesday to help the Wildcats go 4-0 last week.

Other nominees: Sultan freshman Shelby Jeffries threw two complete-game one-hitters in wins over Lakewood and Coupeville last week. Jeffries pitched 14 innings, struck out 25 and allowed just two hits. ... Mountlake Terrace's Hannah Baisch went 4-8 with a double, two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored in a pair of Hawks wins last week.
Edmonds-Woodway thrower Wyatt Meyring broke two school records last week, throwing the discus 157 feet, 10 inches and the shot 52-4. The old discus record was 153-8 and it was held by Will Broadlick. The old shot put record was the oldest school record in track according to coach Rick Fillman and was 52-3.
Other nominees: Mountlake Terrace's Chinne Okoronkwo jumped 39-6 in the triple jump competition at the Terrace Invite to set a new personal record and win the competition by nearly 51/2 feet. ... Lake Stevens' Carey Campbell threw the shot a personal-best 58-7.75 to win the competition at the Viking Classic. ...
Arlington's Anthony Allen shot a 2-under 70 in a match at Snohomish Golf Course to record the best score by a local golfer over 18 holes so far this season. Allen also shot a 73 in the Dolan Invite to tie Jackson's Kyle Cornett for first place (Cornett would go on to win in a playoff).
Lake Stevens' Michel Zavalza scored both goals in the Vikings' win over Kamiak and also had a goal in a 1-0 win over Mount Vernon as Lake Stevens remained in second place in the Wesco 4A North.
Other nominees: Glacier Peak's Branson Corwin scored two goals as the Grizzlies knocked off 3A North first-place Stanwood.
Girls Tennis
Kamiak's Zoe Jovanovich came from behind to hand Snohomish's Alexis Stockwell her first loss in singles play this season as the Knights swept singles play to beat the previously unbeaten Panthers in a key Wesco crossover match.
