LYNNWOOD — The Meadowdale baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak and dealt Shorewood its first loss of the year 3-2 in a Wesco 3A South game. Matt Hill pitched into the sixth for the Mavericks, striking out five, walking three and giving up just three hits.
The Thunderbirds stranded 12 baserunners and Meadowdale was able to overcome some early errors and work out of a few jams to get the win.
“I think we were successful today because we executed our short game well,” said Mavericks head coach Bill Hummel.
“We got every one of our bunts down and every time we got a runner to third with less than two outs we got him home.”
Meadowdale had a similar chance on Tuesday but couldn’t convert on run-scoring opportunities, so today “was a real confidence booster for our kids,” said Hummel.
