Prep baseball: Cascade 3, Kamiak 0

MUKILTEO -- The long week for the Cascade boys baseball team continued Wednesday afternoon.
The Bruins -- who are playing five games in five days -- used good defense and a strong pitching performance from Matthew Butler to defeat Kamiak 3-0 in a Wesco 4A South game and improve to 2-1 so far this week.
"The coaches are probably more (tired) than players," said Cascade head coach Scott Stencil. "They bounce back pretty easy. Yeah it's been a tough week."
Butler allowed four hits in the shutout. The pitcher had one strikeout, which gave his defense plenty of opportunities -- 20 to be exact -- to back him up.
"The biggest thing for us is we played good defense," Stencil said. "We made the plays. They hit the ball hard but we were able to take care of it. ... We made 20 outs in the field and didn't make any errors so that was huge. And (Butler) stepped up big for us on the mound for sure."
There were no extra base hits in the game. Cascade scored twice on bases-loaded walks and had a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
