The bantam draft is less than 24 hours away

Here's some more bantam draft notes

- This is the third straight year Everett heads into the bantam draft with the seventh-overall pick. That's a somewhat dubious distinction, as it indicates the Tips had the worst record among the teams that made the playoffs for the third straight year.

- The Tips picked center Ty Mappin with that pick two years ago, but last year the Tips traded down to 11th overall, selecting defenseman Kevin Davis. It's possible Everett could move again this year. Tips general manager Garry Davidson indicated he is receptive to moving either up or down in the first round, depending on the offer.

- Alan Caldwell has a list of the projected draft order, including traded picks. However, I have confirmation that he's off on his Everett picks. Caldwell has the Tips surrendering their second rounder to Portland for the hiring of Davidson, but that pick isn't this year, it's in 2014. He also has the Tips picking up a fourth rounder from Medicine Hat for the Reid Petryk/Miles Koules deal. However, that pick is conditional depending on the number of seasons both players played in the league, so if it ever exchanges hands it won't be until 2014 at the earliest. Therefore, Everett has single picks in the first, second, third and fourth rounds, two fifth rounders, no sixth rounder, then its own pick the rest of the way.

- Speaking of Caldwell, his blog traditionally is the best source of information on all the bantam picks, though He hasn't indicated whether he intends to continue that tradition this year. The Silvertips website will be updating with information about Everett's picks. And I'll be having a thread that I update periodically during the day.

- What about local players? Players from Snohomish County were selected in two of the past three drafts. Winger Brad LeLievre of Mill Creek was selected by Seattle in the seventh round in 2010, becoming the first ever Snohomish County resident picked in the bantam draft. Then defenseman Daniel Woolfenden of Mill Creek was selected by Everett in the seventh round last year. Will another local be picked this year? I don't know, but I've been told that defenseman Connor Nobach of Stanwood played pretty well at the WHL's U.S. prospects camp in early April in Anaheim, Calif.

- Vancouver holds the first-overall pick. Winger Tyler Benson from Edmonton, Alberta, is widely believed to be the player the Giants will select.

- You can watch the first round live online Thursday morning. Proceedings begin at 7:30.
