Potential candidates for local offices can attend a forum Thursday sponsored by the Snohomish County auditor’s office on the county courthouse campus in Everett.
The event is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at the County Campus. County officials say that the workshop will give prospective candidates information relating to what it takes to run for office.
“Odd-year elections focus on local races and issues,” County Auditor Carolyn Weikel said. “With county offices, city council, school district, fire district and other district offices up for election, this year offers many opportunities for qualified citizens to serve locally and make an impact on our communities.”
Weikel said that the candidate workshop would cover topics such as deciding to run for local office, declaring candidacy, getting a message out and what to expect once elected.
She said that elections officials would discuss the process for filing for office and for submitting information for the local voters’ pamphlet.
She said that representatives from the State Public Disclosure Commission, the local media and public office holders would be on hand to answer questions.
The event is scheduled for Public Meeting Room No. 1 on the first floor of the Robert J. Drewel Building (East Administration), Snohomish County Campus, 3000 Rockefeller Ave, Everett, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Additional information about running for office is available in the Election Information Guide on the auditor’s office website at www.snoco.org/elections or by calling 425-388-3444.
