Rochester's Vinc wins Goaltender of the Year

The National Lacrosse League announced Rochester goalkeeper Matt Vinc has won the league's Goaltender of the Year award on Thursday.

Vinc set a new NLL-season record with 662 saves in the regular season and led the league in goals against average (10.17) and save percentage (.803).

He's been the guy we depend on to make the big save and bail us out when we make mistakes," Rochester head coach Mike Hasen said. "He has done that consistently throughout the season. He works hard on and off the floor. The award is well-deserved."

Vinc helped lead Rochester to the NLL championship in 2012 and becomes the first NLL goalie to win the award three times after having won in 2010 and 2011.

Brandon Miller of the Philadelphia Wings came in second and Nick Rose of Toronto came in third.

The NLL season awards are determined by a vote of the league's Board of Governors, general managers and head coaches.

The announcement of the season awards continues on Monday with the All-Rookie Team.
