A new animal rights documentary that was filmed mostly in Snohomish County and prominently features the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project based in Lynnwood opens Saturday in Seattle.
The film, “The Girl Who Loved Animals: Kitty Jones and the Fight For Animal Rights,” stars Kitty Jones, who was filmed while attending Shorecrest High School near Seattle and is now a freshman at U.C. Berkeley.
Jones, a passionate animal rights activist, helps at an animal sanctuary, volunteers at a cat clinic, hands out vegetarian recipes at farmers markets and is involved in several other activities that help promote the rights of animals, according to press material.
Footage for parts of the film was supplied by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the Humane Society of the United States.
The film was written and directed by Oliver W. Tuthill Jr.
“The Girl Who Loved Animals: Kitty Jones and the Fight For Animal Rights,” will be screened at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival at Grand Illusion Cinema, 1403 NE 50th St., Seattle.
