2013 Silvertips draft

The Everett Silvertips selected nine players in Thursday’s bantam draft, broken down as five forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender. Players are listed with their position, height, weight and hometown:

First round

TYSON JOST (seventh overall)

Right wing, 5-9, 169, Leduc, Alberta

Skinny: A player who competes hard, but backs it up with good speed and skill. Had 77 goals, 79 assists and 71 penalty minutes in 49 games for Kelowna Pursuit of Excellence bantam AAA.

Second round

PATRICK KHODORENKO (26th overall)

Center, 5-10, 161, Walnut Creek, Calif.

Skinny: An elite talent who was available in the second round because of questions about his commitment to the WHL. Had 15 goals and 25 assists in 23 games for Detroit Honeybaked bantam AAA.

Third round

ALEX ASTASIEWICZ (51st overall)

Defenseman, 6-0 178, Salmon Arm, B.C.

Skinny: A physically strong defenseman who can skate the puck. Played for the Salmon Arm Silvertips bantam AAA, stats not available.

Fourth round

KEVIN JAKISCH (80th overall)

Left wing, 5-11, 168, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Skinny: A power forward with some offensive upside. Had 11 goals and 25 assists in 30 games for the Winnipeg Monarchs bantam AAA.

Fifth round

CONNOR NOBACH (91st overall)

Defenseman, 5-10, 165, Stanwood

Skinny: A steady stay-at-home defenseman with local ties. Played for the L.A. Jr. Kings major bantam, stats not available.

ANDREW FYTEN (107th overall)

Center, 5-11, 166, Didsbury, Alberta

Skinny: A feisty player who doesn’t shy away from scrums. Had 23 goals, 10 assists and 137 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Airdrie Xtreme bantam AAA.

Seventh round

KEYVAN MOKHTARI (134th overall)

Right wing, 5-7, 135, Burnaby, B.C.

Skinny: An undersized player who has speed and skill. Played for the North Shore Winter Club bantam AAA, stats not available.

Eighth round

Carter Hart (156th overall)

Goaltender, 5-8, 135, Sherwood Park, Alberta

Skinny: A small goalie who is a big-game player. Went 11-5-4 with a 3.36 goals against average and .908 save percentage for the Sherwood Park Flyers bantam AAA.

Ninth round

RYAN WARNER (178th overall)

Defenseman, 6-1, 145, Victoria, B.C.

Skinny: An intelligent defenseman with some upside. Played for the Juan de Fuca Grizzlies bantam AAA, stats not available.
