Ismael Perez-Perez, 30, was listed last week in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the Washington State Patrol. He is believed to be homeless.
Troopers and hospital staff have been working to identify Perez-Perez as he was unable to speak for some time after the March 26 accident near the 75th Street SE overpass. Perez-Perez was struck by two trucks while apparently trying to cross the highway.
Troopers worked with the Consulate General of Mexico to confirm who he was, trooper Mark Francis said. They were unable to notify his family until that information was confirmed.
The Washington State Patrol does not disclose information about people's immigration status, Francis said. The Herald generally does not have access to that information outside of police or court records.
