Admire: Library, art on display
The Snohomish High School library hosts an open house and mural dedication, 5 to 8 p.m. May 16, in conjunction with the school’s Night of the Arts in the main gym. The campus is at 1316 Fifth St.
A short ceremony is planned at 6 p.m. to celebrate the library’s recent reconstruction. The mural, by Sedro-Woolley artist Don Smith, features historic Snohomish. Smith was assisted by student Nathen Wilkins and custodian James “Coop” Cooper, who are among the art show exhibitors.
The high school Jam Club also will play.

Sip: Tea, fashion show benefit center
The Stanwood Community and Senior Center plans a fundraising Spring Tea Luncheon and Fashion Show, noon to 2 p.m. May 18. The center is at 7430 276th St. NW.

A gift bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. also is planned.
Exercise: Free expo focuses on fitness
Rubber chicken relays, soccer skills and cheer clinics and more are all part of a free Health and Fitness Expo, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Edmonds-Woodway High School stadium, 7600 212th St. SW, Edmonds.
Afterward, catch the 1 p.m. start of the SeaWolves Premier Soccer opening game. Healthy brown bag lunches also available while supplies last.
Adopt: Give pets new leash on life
The third annual Wags and Whiskers adoption event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19 at Northpointe Animal Hospital, at the corner of Alderwood Mall Parkway and 164th Street.
Meet adoptable kittens, puppies, cats and dogs from local shelters and rescues, including co-sponsor Second Chance Rescue. The celebratory event also includes food, raffles, prizes and more.

Train: Learn signs of domestic violence
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County will hold a free domestic violence awareness and training seminar, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 18 at the Lynnwood Senior Center, 19000 44th Ave. W. Check-in is at 9 a.m.

Attend: Help kids facing adversity
Parents, grandparents, foster parents and others are invited to a free community forum to learn how to best support children who have experienced adverse experiences.
The Snohomish County Children’s Commission, Snohomish County Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program and other community partners are sponsors.
The forum is set for 7 toi8:30 p.m. May 21 at Imagine Children’s Museum, 1502 Wall St., Everett. Free childcare for ages 3-12 is available but is limited.

Serve: Positions open on boards
Mountlake Terrace is recruiting residents to serve on a variety of boards and commissions that help organize events and inform and advise the City Council.
Volunteers use time and talents to promote the city and such events as National Night Out and Arts of the Terrace. In most cases, special training or experience is not needed. Applications are due May 24.

The Carbajal Family Blood Drive for 2013 is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Arlington Haggen Store at 20115 74th Ave. NE.
