No felony charge for Leroy Hill
Hill will not, however, face a felony charge in that case. A King County Prosecutors Office spokesman said Wednesday that it was determined that there was legally insufficient evidence for a felony charge. The case has been referred to the Issaquah city prosecutor, which could still decide to charge Hill with a misdemeanor.
The January arrest was Hill's fourth since joining the Seahawks in 2005. In 2009, he was arrested for marijuana possession after falling asleep at the wheel in Atlanta. He received probation and was also suspended one game by the NFL. In 2010 Hill was arrested in a domestic violence incident at his Issaquah home, though he reached an agreement in that case to have the charges dismissed if he avoided further legal trouble and met other court-directed stipulations. Hill was also arrested in March of 2012 for marijuana possession, though those charges were dropped.
Hill, 30, is an unrestricted free agent and even before his latest arrest, it was considered unlikely that the Seahawks would re-sign him. He and Marcus Trufant, who was signed by Jacksonville Tuesday, were the only two players on last year's roster remaining from Seattle's Super Bowl team.
