MADRAS, Ore. -- Authorities say a state prison inmate walked away from a work crew in Central Oregon, and a search failed to find him.
The Bulletin newspaper in Bend reports he was 36-year-old Jason Michael Donaldson.
He was among 20 inmates from the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras working on a project to reduce wildfire fuels at a trailhead near Bend.
He was reported missing late Tuesday afternoon. Deschutes County deputies say dogs and a plane were used in a search.
The Bulletin said details about escape -- such as where guards and other inmates were -- weren't available.
Donaldson was serving time for theft, burglary and criminal mischief charges in Lane County. His release date was in 2016.
