Calgary's Evans named NLL MVP, Duch third

The National Lacrosse League announced on Thursday that Calgary forward Shawn Evans has been named the regular-season Most Valuable Player.

Evans won the league's scoring title with 112 points (32 goals and 80 assists), which tied for the fifth-most points in league history.

Evans helped lead the Roughnecks to a 9-7 record and an opening round playoff victory over Colorado before being ousted in the West Division finals by the Washington Stealth.

Toronto forward Garrett Billings finished second in the voting, while Washington's Rhys Duch finished third.

The season awards are determined by a vote of the league's Board of Governors, general managers and head coaches.
