Glacier Peak claims 3A girls golf title

SEATTLE — Three seniors — and a lot of motivation — helped Glacier Peak claim its second Wesco 3A girls golf title in the last three years.
After winning the title in 2010, the Grizzlies finished just short last season. Thanks to a victory in the Wesco 3A tournament Thursday at Jackson Park Golf Course, Glacier Peak found itself on top once again.
“Two years ago we won and graduated a bunch of seniors,” said Glacier Peak head coach Kelvin May. “Last year we finished in the top two or three. But we didn’t have any seniors so everybody came back this year and knew they were close, so they were driven to come back out and really wanted to win the league. It was one of their goals for the year.”
Glacier Peak finished the year with 28 team points, three ahead of second-place Shorecrest.
Isabella Seda (fifth place) and Dani Durand (seventh) — who both were on the first-team all-Wesco South team — shot 91 and 92 respectively to lead the Grizzlies. Their third senior, second-team all-Wesco South selection Alisa Wilson, finished 12th overall shooting 99.
“We’re definitely excited,” May said. “It’s just the culmination of a lot of hard work throughout the season for them.”
Glacier Peak sophomore Megan Christie was also named to the all-Wesco South second team.
