Shorecrest boys soccer ends Stanwood's season

Scots score twice late in first half to grab final 3A state berth

SHORELINE -- Shorecrest scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to snap a 1-1 tie, and the Scots claimed the district's final berth to state with the victory over Stanwood in the third-place game of the 3A District 1 tournament. Both goals came when shots toward goal took deflections into the net, with Alex Ramsey and Jonathan Coon credited with the goals.
Axel Wickstrom also scored for Shorecrest (13-4-3), the No. 3 seed from the Wesco 3A South, which controlled play for much of the game. The Scots face the No. 2 seed from District 2 in the first round of state.
Alex Esary scored for Stanwood, the top seed from the Wesco 3A North, which finished its season 13-5-2.

Goals--Axel Wickstrom (SC), Alex Ramsey (SC), Jonathan Coon (SC), Alex Esary (SW). Assists--Schoedel (SC), Ryan Vanderveen (SC) 2, Jacob Amancio (SW). Goalkeepers--Shorecrest: Sam Schober. Stanwood: Jordan Schafer, Jason Isaksen. Records--Stanwood 13-5-2 overall. Shorecrest 13-4-3.
