SNOHOMISH — Archbishop Murphy’s Quinn Stanley shot a 1-under 71 to improve on his first day total by 11 shots and qualified for next week’s 2A state tourmament. Stanley finished fifth overall, 12 strokes behind Sammamish’s Matt Marrese, who finished the two-day 2A Northwest District Championships at 3-under 144. Two other Murphy golfers will be joining Stanley at Chambers Bay. Ben Thacker finished sixth, one shot behind Stanley, and Sean Goldfinch placed 15th to help the Wildcats to a third-place team finish behind champion Bellingham and Lynden. Sultan’s Austin Berg just made the state tournament cut of the top 17, tying for 16th at 161.
