VANCOUVER — A 25-year-old Vancouver, Wash., man has pleaded guilty to trafficking in counterfeit vehicle airbags.
U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan said Vitaliy Yaremkiv was arrested in April after being indicted by a grand jury in Seattle.
He has admitted to selling in 2011 and 2012 more than 900 counterfeit airbags he bought in China. He pleaded guilty on Friday in U.S. District Court in Tacoma.
Under a plea agreement, both sides will recommend a sentence of 10 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton will announce his sentence on Aug. 23. The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison.
