Seattle Tilth is offering classes for kids this summer at 21 Acres, an organic farm in Woodinville.
I’ve taken classes from Seattle Tilth before, and I’ve always enjoyed them. They have a good reputation among local gardeners.
They have three different options:
- Preschool, for ages 3-5 with adult: These courses are two days long. Kids and their grown-ups will learn about insects, flowers and gardening. Kids can watch the farm’s goats and pick berries. Each session includes gardening, art, stories and snacks. $50, $40 for Seattle Tilth or 21 Acre members.
- Ages 6-10: Five-day sessions teach students practical gardening skills. Students will learn about plants, soil and worms while playing games, reading stories, singing and taking walks. Students will make snacks with the produce they harvest. $290, $275 for members.
- Junior counselors, ages 11-14: Older kids who love gardening can help out as mentors, while learning themselves. The junior counselors lead group activities, and all learn more about gardening, beekeeping, cooking and more. The sessions are 5 days. $280 or $265 for members.
