EVERETT — Detectives now say arson was the cause of a fire that destroyed two plastic slides at a north Everett park on Sunday.
The early morning blaze remains under investigation, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
The fire was reported just after midnight at the Garfield Park playground at 2300 Walnut Street.
No one was hurt.
The fire destroyed two plastic slides. Damage was estimated at $10,000 and the play area remains closed.
No arrests have been made. Police detained and identified a number of young people who were at the park when the fire was started.
“We will be working the leads that we have,” Snell said.
