SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Jim Harbaugh, who’s constantly told his 49ers to get 1 mph faster each day, will drive the ceremonial pace car at Sunday’s Indianapolis 500.
Co-owner of Indianapolis-based Panther Racing since 1997, Harbaugh will be driving a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
“I’ve already had a dream about it—I kept the car out on the track and won the Indy 500,” Harbaugh told The Indianapolis Star on Tuesday. “I know my heart is going to be beating out of my chest.”
Last August, the Panther Racing team and driver JR Hildebrand visited the 49ers facility, along with a version of their Indy car painted in a 49ers motif with the No. 4 (Harbaugh’s former jersey number).
