United Airlines moves to Sea-Tac's A gates
Factors include Alaska's growth into a transcontinental air carrier with a need for more gates and United's merge with Continental Airlines, which had occupied a handful of A gates.
As announced last year, Alaska and the Port of Seattle will renovate the North Satellite, including adding a second-floor frequent-flier lounge and three gates, bringing the total to 15. Alaska still will also occupy concourses C and D.
United has now opened a lounge in Concourse A and is moving its ticketing area from the far north to the far south end of the main terminal, adjacent to Concourse A.
