'Nutcracker,' other favorites return in PNB season

Pacific Northwest Ballet has decided on its 2013-2014 lineup, which will feature a program of works dedicated to its first artist in resident, Twyla Tharp, including a piece with Frank Sinatra songs; the return of audience favorites "Sleeping Beauty" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream"; and a season closer of "Giselle."
Tickets go on sale for this 41st season on July 15 with a special offer of no service fees through July 31.

All programming and dates are subject to change. Performances are at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle Center.
The season lineup:
"A.I.R. Tharp": Sept. 27. The program includes "Brief Fling," with choreography by Twyla Tharp; also "Nine Sinatra Songs" with songs sung by Frank Sinatra and choreography by Tharp; and a world premiere with music by Allen Toussaint and choreography by Tharp.
"Kylian + Pite": Nov. 8. Includes "Petite Mort" with music by Mozart and choreography by Jiri Kylian; "Sechs Tanze (Six Dances)" with music by Mozart and choreography by Kylian; "Forgotten Land" a PNB premiere with music by Benjamin Britten and choreography by Kylian; and "Emergence," a PNB premiere with music by Owen Belton and choreography by Crystal Pite.
"The Sleeping Beauty": Jan. 31, with music by Tchaikovsky and choreography by Ronald Hynd.
Director's Choice: March 14. Includes "Take Five…More or Less," with music by Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond and choreography by Susan Stroman; "Kiss," with music by Arvo Part and choreography by Susan Marshall; "State of Darkness" with music by Stravinsky and Molissa Fenley; and a world premiere with choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream": April 11. With music by Mendelssohn and choreography by George Balanchine.
"Giselle": May 30, with choreography by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, and Marius Petipa.
Other performances that are not part of the subscription package:
"The Nutcracker": Nov. 30. With music by Tchaikovsky, choreography by Kent Stowell and scenic and costume design by Maurice Sendak.
"Pinocchio": March 16. With music by Nicola Piovani and Amilcare Ponchielli and choreography by Bruce Wells. This is a narrated, hourlong performance by students of Pacific Northwest Ballet School.
