The man, 32, allegedly stabbed a woman, 34, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
At about 7 p.m., Monroe police converged on an alley near the 100 block of W. Hill Street. They tried to talk with the man, following him down Blakely Street, Ireton said.
He eventually was subdued using less-lethal weapons, including a Taser.
"The male sustained wounds during the process of being taken into custody," Ireton said.
The man and the woman were both taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team was summoned to investigate what happened. The team is deployed to investigate when police calls result in serious injuries or death.
