SNOHOMISH — The Parks and Recreation Board is recommending the City Council approve guidelines that would ban dogs from the proposed Snohomish Riverview Sanctuary.
However, the board may vote again because there wasn’t enough members to met a quorum.
Before the vote, member Chris Harper had to leave the meeting for personal reasons. Board members Leah Badgley and Steve Ooton approved sending the recommendations to the council.
Board members Lea Anne Burke and John First were absent.
The board is very likely to vote again to make it official at its June 26 meeting, project manager Ann Stanton said.
This would not affect the date the council is projected to discuss the park, a proposed sanctuary on 40 acres that include a former sewage lagoon and privately owned wetlands that have a variety of birds and wildlife species.
The park is located next to the current sewage treatment plant, along the Snohomish River west of Highway 9.
The council is scheduled to hear a presentation on its June 18 meeting, but no vote is expected until July 16 at the earliest, Stanton said.
Among the recommendations are banning dogs in the park. There is no starting date on when the park would open, Stanton said.
