BREMERTON — A driver in his 80s has died after a head-on collision with a Mason County Fire District 2 ambulance.
The Kitsap Sun reported that a Harborview Medical Center shift supervisor in Seattle said the man died Friday.
The paramedic who was driving the ambulance suffered minor chest injuries in Thursday’s crash. A second medic was unhurt.
Fire District Chief Beau Bakken said the man’s car swerved across the centerline, and the oncoming ambulance did not have enough room on the highway shoulder to avoid the collision.
The paramedics had no patients on board. They immediately tended to the car driver.
