Pedestrian struck, killed by train at Everett park

EVERETT -- A man was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a train and knocked into the water off Harborview Park in Everett, officials said.
The victim was walking with two other men along Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks at about 7:45 p.m., just west of the park, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. His companions got out of the way for a northbound train.
The man was struck and knocked into the water. Everett firefighters joined a police boat crew and personnel from Naval Station Everett in recovering the man's at about 9 p.m.
Details about the person who died weren't immediately available. The other men were 18, from Everett, and 19, from Yakima.
Everett police are investigating.
