Stanwood: City reduces event fees
People planning special events in Stanwood, such as car shows, fun runs or parades, should note that the city has changed its policies regarding the use of public streets, parks and police involvement. In March, the City Council adopted a policy for calculating charges for city services needed for special events and for reductions in those fees in exchange for city sponsorship.
The council wants to support and encourage special events that bring people to town, city officials said.
City sponsorship can mean a reduction of up to 75 percent of fees for events that attract 1,000 people or more, and a reduction of up to $325 for smaller events. To get city sponsorship, event planners must include the city logo on event signs, posters and advertising.
