Published:
LYNNWOOD -- A Lynnwood man who was struck and killed by a driver fleeing from police last week has been identified as Jerry Robert Bennett, 72.
Bennett was driving at the intersection of 212th Street SW and 44th Avenue W. in Mountlake Terrace about 8:30 p.m. May 24 when his van was hit. He died later that night at a Seattle hospital.
At the time of the crash, Lynnwood police were pursuing Shellie Rose Becker, 42, who allegedly took off from a traffic stop nearby.
Becker could face murder charges in the death. She is being held at the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
Lynnwood police also are expected to review the pursuit to determine if department policies were followed.
