The Mariners announced Saturday that catcher Jesus Montero has a torn meniscus in his left knee, an injury that will require surgery and sideline him for four to six weeks.
The injury is just the latest setback this year for Montero, who was sent to Triple-A Tacoma on May 22 after he hit just .208 in 29 games with the Mariners.
