Purple and green waves of the aurora borealis effect, also known as the northern lights, were reportedly seen in more than a dozen states on Friday night, including Washington, according to spaceweather.com.
One photographer captured a spectacular gold-and-violet glow at Crater Lake, Ore.
If you may have witnessed the northern lights in Snohomish or Island counties overnight Friday, we'd love to see your photos. Post them to our reader galleries at www.heraldnet.com/yourphotos or our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/heraldnet.
