May brought with it a significant increase in wildlife activity inside the PAWS Wildlife Center and off the PAWS campus. Releasing bears and bobcats, rescuing families of geese from the roadside, returning baby owls to their nests, and a huge uptick in the number of new patients coming in kept us all very busy. The increased workload means that we have a need for additional volunteers, so if you have ever considered working hands-on with wildlife here’s your chance! You can find job descriptions for all volunteer positions plus an online application on the PAWS website.
The increased workload also meant that I had less time in May to check in on the wildlife on campus, but I did find spare moments to continue to monitor the Anna’s Hummingbird nest.
