SEATTLE — Seattle police say a woman suspected of trying to steal Swedish Medical Center patients’ medication in April has been charged in the case.
The Seattle Times reported that the city attorney’s office charged 39-year-old Rachel Nezat of Seattle on Monday with two counts of property destruction and one count of criminal trespass. The gross misdemeanor charges carry a maximum penalty of a year in jail and $5,000 fine.
Police say a woman entered patients’ rooms at the hospital on April 13, acting as if she were a staff member and checking patient-administered pain-medication machines. When a real nurse arrived later in one room, she noticed one patient’s machine line had been cut and his pain medication was dripping on the floor.
Police said there was another report of a similar woman trying to open a medication machine in another room but an alarm went off.
