Brittany N. Shaffer, 23, died at the scene, the Washington State Patrol reported.
She was yielding to oncoming traffic and waiting to turn into the driveway at her family's home, trooper Mark Francis said.
Troopers said a westbound 1998 Ford Explorer driven by a Bellingham man, 31, ran into the back of Shaffer's 2000 Geo Metro.
The impact pushed her vehicle into the eastbound lane where it was hit by a tow truck driven by a Stanwood man, 24.
The Bellingham man was taken to an Arlington hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The tow truck driver was not injured, according to a State Patrol accident memo.
The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. about three miles east of town, troopers said. The cause remains under investigation.
