Riverview Elementary School teacher Jeffrey Thoreson gets high-fives from his class of second-graders after playing a game at the school's assembly for the last school day of the year Wednesday morning in Snohomish.
Thoreson, who has taught at Riverview for 33 years, was named Ivar's Teacher of the Year during the assembly. The surprise announcement earned Thoreson a $1,000 check for school supplies and tickets to the Imagine Children's Museum in Everett for his students.
